Kimi Katkar, once considered one of Bollywood's most glamorous and beautiful actresses, is back in the spotlight after 33 years. Kimi, who became an overnight star with the song Jumma Chumma De De, suddenly disappeared from films in 1992. Now, when her latest picture surfaced on social media.
Recently, actress Divya Seth shared a picture of Kimi Katkar on her Instagram account. In one photo, Divya and Kimi are seen together, while the other picture shows Kimi with Divya's late daughter. In the post, Divya referred to Kimi as her aunt. Since then, Kimi's pictures have gone viral, leaving people surprised.
Kimi Katkar started her career in 1985 with the film Pathar Dil. That same year, she also appeared in Adventures of Tarzan. However, she gained real recognition with the 1991 film Hum, in which she starred alongside Amitabh Bachchan. The film's song Jumma Chumma De De became a superhit, and Kimi became an overnight star.
Kimi worked in several films like Mera Lahoo, Dariyadil, Illegal Kanoon, Vardi, and Mard Ki Zubaan. But after the 1992 film Hamla, she suddenly left Bollywood. This decision came as a shock to her fans.
In an interview, Kimi herself revealed that she was bored with films and fed up with the industry. She decided to marry photographer Shantanu Sheorey and quit acting forever. Kimi said that after doing Hum with Amitabh Bachchan, she felt there was nothing more to achieve. Kimi also revealed that after Hum, she received many film offers with Amitabh Bachchan, but after deciding to get married, she turned them all down. Not only that, she even had to return the signing amounts for some films.
A few years after her marriage, Kimi moved to Melbourne, Australia with her husband and son Siddhant. At that time, her son was suffering from a serious illness, and doctors had advised treatment abroad. To save her son's life, Kimi gave up everything.
After living in Australia for about five years, Kimi is now living in Goa with her family. Her husband, Shantanu, is the founder of 'The One School Goa'. Staying away from films, Kimi is completely dedicated to taking care of her family.
