A look at the day-wise box office performances of Sikandar and L2 Empuraan at the worldwide box office. Can you guess how much amount these films earned?
Audiences witnessed two major clashes between the most awaited films of the year – Salman Khan’s Sikandar and Mohanlal’s L2: Empuraan. Both, films have created a storm at the box office and are breaking records with their exceptional storyline and plot.
Empuraan on March 27 and Salman’s film on March 30, the audiences rushed to watch films in their nearby theatres. If reports are to be believed, L2: Empuraan and Sikandar have performed well and makers are getting monetary benefits.
As per industry tracker Sacnilk, Salman's starrer earned Rs 26 crore on its opening day, while Mohanlal’s release L2: Empuraan earned Rs 21 crore. Slowly and gradually, L2: Empuraan started taking lead. A look at day-wise collections as we compare earnings of both films.
Directed by Prithviraj Sukumaran, L2 Empuraan started with Rs 67 crore worldwide on its release day. Salman's film Sikandar managed to earn only Rs 50.25 crore on a global scale.
On its day 2, there was a slight dip in the collections, making Rs 34.50 crore and Rs 35 crore on Day 3. On the fourth day of its release, the film managed to earn Rs 39 crore and its first-weekend global collections were Rs 175.50 crore.
Talking about Sikandar, the film earned Rs 44.50 crore but failed to hold a strong position, especially after the Eid Holidays. The AR Murugadoss directorial collected Rs 28.50 crore on Day 3 and Rs 13 crore on the next day.
On day 5, Empuraan grossed over Rs 26.25 crore, Rs 17.55 crore on Day 6 and its total earnings of Rs 219 crore at the worldwide box office.
On days 5 and 6, Sikandar witnessed a massive drop and the film earned Rs 8 crore and Rs 6.50 crore on the sixth day. The total collections on day 6 was around Rs 150.75 crore gross globally.
After seeing the comparison and witnessing the box office numbers, the Mohanlal starrer is taking the lead of Rs 69 crore and it has surpassed Sikandar’s theatrical run. Empuraan’s box-office performance has done a business of more than Rs 250 crore gross globally. Will the film enter Rs 300 crore globally?
