Nayanthara's documentary 'Nayanthara: Beyond the Fairy Tale' was released in November 2024. However, we saw it landing in legal trouble after Dhanush sent a legal notice to Nayanthara for the usage of his film's footage in the documentary.
Nayanthara and Dhanush’s issues have been in the news. A lot has been said about Nayanthara’s documentary titled Nayanthara: Beyond the Fairy Tale which released in November 2024 on Netflix. Just two days before the release of the documentary, Nayanthara made shocking revelations that gave rise to controversies.
Nayanthara took to Instagram to share a note slamming Dhanush for filing the Rs 10 crore lawsuit against her documentary. She said she had to wait for two years to get NOC for using Naanum Rowdy Dhaan’s footage in her documentary. For the unversed, Dhanush is the producer of the film. Nayanthara said that it was the BTS footage they used. They were random videos taken on her and others in the crew member's phones.
Naanum Rowdy Dhaan is special for Nayanthara as that is where her love story with Vignesh Shivan began. Dhanush filed a lawsuit against her and Vignesh Shivan in Madras High Court over the alleged use of the footage from the film.
Nayanthara got support from her fans and many friends as well. However, she was also trolled and people felt she did it for publicity of her documentary. However, Nayanthara explained that she had to take this way as Dhanush refused to speak to her over call. Dhanush also got a lot of support from his fans and friends in this matter.
Post the issues between them, they were also spotted together for a wedding. However, the actors ignored each other and did not speak as well. Their video sitting in the same line also went viral on the internet.
Dhanush has not said anything in this matter openly. He filed the lawsuit but never shared anything about it on social media or in interviews.
There were more reports that the makers of the 2005 Tamil film Chandramukhi have also taken legal action against Nayanthara. It was being said that they have demanded Rs 5 crore over the usage of film’s clips in her documentary.
However, the makers of Chandramukhi have also clarified that the news is fake. The confirmed that they granted the actress permission to use the footage.
