Celebrated photographer Jayesh Sheth recently opened up about Zeenat Aman’s strength and determination after the infamous 1979 Taj incident, where she reportedly suffered an eye injury following an alleged assault by actor Sanjay Khan. At the time, Zeenat was one of Bollywood’s biggest stars, while Sanjay who was married to Zarine Khan was rumoured to be romantically involved with his Abdullah co-star. On The Pooja Bhatt Show, Jayesh recalled working with both actors during the shoot of Maine Poochha Chand Se at RK Studios. He shared that while Sanjay posed confidently, Zeenat was extremely reserved. She even requested that her photos remain private, eventually agreeing to publish only a few of her choosing. Those pictures were well received and sparked a friendship between her and the photographer.

Jayesh said the moment he can never forget was a photoshoot that took place shortly after the Taj incident, when Zeenat’s eye was still swollen. He described how she showed up with fierce confidence. “She was like a tigress… giving pose after pose in vengeance,” he said. Despite visible swelling, the photos turned out strikingly powerful, and Zeenat herself was shocked at how well they came out.

Years later, Zeenat briefly addressed the episode on Simi Garewal’s show, saying she had pushed the memory away as a way of coping. She didn’t name anyone, but admitted it was something she promised herself would 'never happen again.'

Sanjay Khan, meanwhile, has consistently denied the accusations. While promoting his memoir The Best Mistakes of My Life, he claimed the controversy was a deliberate smear campaign and insisted he never harmed Zeenat, calling the allegations 'blasphemy.'
