The teaser of Karan Johar, Zoya Akhtar, Dibakar Banerjee and Anurag Kashyap’s Ghost Stories just released and it’s engrossing to say the least. In just about 30 seconds, it teases you enough. Playing a lot with sounds, which is a key element in horror, it opens with an outdoor shot of a girl standing under a worn-out tree which has crows all around it. One of the stories has a child, while the other seems to be about a haunted house. There’s also a shot about a woman trying to feed a doll and a shot about many presumably dead people staring at someone/something. The teaser ends with a male voice-over, ‘Is ghar me kuch locha hai’. Let’s hope the makers release a trailer soon which will give us more details about the four different films. The film stars Avinash Tewari, Gulshan Devaiah, Janhvi Kapoor, Kusha Kapila, Mrunal Thakur, Sobhita Dhulipala, Surekha Sikri, Sukant Goel, and Vijay Verma in pivotal roles. (Also read: Karan Johar, Zoya Akhtar, Dibakar Banerjee and Anurag Kashyap’s Ghost Stories to drop on January 1, 2020)
Just like Lust Stories, Ghost Stories is an Indian anthology film consisting of four short films. It is the third collaboration, after Love Per Square Foot and Lust Stories for Netfix and RSVP.
If you may remember, Karan, Zoya, Dibakar and Anurag had also come together for the 2013 film, Bombay Talkies. It again was an anthology which starred Rani Mukerji, Randeep Hooda, Saqib Saleem, Vineet Kumar Singh, Nawazuddin Siddiqui, Sadashiv Amrapurkar, Naman Jain, Swati Das, Katrina Kaif, Abdul Quadir Amin and Amitabh Bachchan.
