Anil Kapoor recently shared an interesting story about his Animal co-star Ranbir Kapoor and how the film marked a major breakthrough in Ranbir’s career. Speaking at the FICCI Frames event, the 68-year-old actor recalled a moment from the sets of Animal back in 2023. “Ranbir came to the set when Shamshera had just been released,” Anil said. “He looked quite low and told me, ‘Everyone’s looking at me because I’ve given such a big flop.’”
Anil revealed how he tried to cheer Ranbir up. “I told him, ‘Let’s just give this film our best shot. You’ll forget all this by tomorrow,’” he said with a smile. “During a photoshoot, I told him again, ‘Don’t take it to heart. You’re only imagining that people are judging you. Success and failure aren’t in our control, what matters is being honest with your work.’”

According to Anil, that little pep talk helped Ranbir bounce back quickly. “By the next day, he was full of energy again, we were jamming and talking ideas with the director,” he added.
Reflecting on his own long career, Anil Kapoor shared that it took him over four decades to truly understand how to handle criticism. “People talk for a day or two, then they move on,” he said.
For those who may not know, Ranbir’s Shamshera struggled at the box office, but he made a strong comeback with Animal, directed by Sandeep Reddy Vanga, one of the biggest hits of 2023.
