Actor Bobby Deol, known for his roles in Apne (2007), Yamla Pagla Deewana (2011), Race 3, Aashram (2020–present), Love Hostel (2022), The Ba***ds of Bollywood and Animal, has revealed that he has completely quit drinking alcohol, a change he describes as one of the most transformative decisions of his life. Speaking to Bombay Times, Bobby called sobriety a turning point that has brought him balance, clarity, and stronger relationships. Bobby admitted that it wasn’t just a lifestyle change but an emotional and spiritual one.

“Yes, I have, and it has really helped me,” Bobby said when asked about quitting. “Everyone is genetically different, and no one realises how any kind of intoxication can affect you. And some people have those genes where you get addicted to things.” Bobby also talked about how quitting alcohol wasn’t just a lifestyle change but an emotional and spiritual one. “You don’t get these kinds of chances in life. The voice has to come from within. I think I’m a better person after I stopped drinking, and I think my relationship has become a hundred times better with everyone I know.”

As Bobby celebrates three decades in the movie industry, he says this new stage of sobriety has brought him a restored sense of purpose. Calling the decision extremely personal, Bobby recalled how giving up alcohol allowed him to reconnect with his true self. “It’s about understanding your own limits, your triggers, and being honest about what really serves your growth,” he said.

Bobby Deol took time to praise Aryan Khan, who directed The Ba***ds of Bollywood. “It was like my own son telling me, ‘I want this, I want you to do it this way.’ If the film is what it is, it’s because of Aryan. He’s proved it to the world,” Bobby said, calling Aryan a “taskmaster and perfectionist.”
Bobby further admired Aryan’s courage to carve out his own identity. “With the pressure he was under, to have the guts to step out and have his own voice as a director, hats off to him. I feel so proud of him!”

After a remarkable run with Animal and The Ba*ds of Bollywood, Bobby Deol is now gearing up for Animal Park, the sequel to director Sandeep Reddy Vanga's Animal. He will also appear in the YRF Spy Universe film Alpha and the Tamil political action thriller Jana Nayagan.
