Season 1 & 2 Recap: A High-Stakes Rollercoaster
Squid Game Season 1 introduced us to Seong Gi-hun played by Lee Jung-jae, a down-on-luck everyman who gets to enter a deadly competition of childhood games for a massive cash prize. The brutal game of Red Light, Green Light and the tug-of-war challenges showed the desperation of 456 players. Gi-Hun did manage to win this game however it came at a devastating cost which left him haunted by loss of his friends and betrayal. The first season’s cliff-hanger revealed the Front Man played by Lee Byung-hun as the mastermind.

However, Season 2 upped the ante with Gi-hun’s failed rebellion against the game’s shadowy organizers. New players, including crypto-scammer Myung-gi played by Im Si-wan and ex-marine Dae-ho played by Kang Ha-neul who brought fresh dynamics and roles, while the return of the eerie Young-hee doll kept the tension sky-high. The season ends on a gut-wrenching scene showing betrayal, a friend’s death, and a devastating setback for our beloved Gi-hun’s mission to end the games.

What to Expect in Season 3
Dropping on June 27 at 12:30 PM IST on Netflix, Season 3 promises to wrap up Gi-hun’s arc with six intense episodes. Creator Hwang Dong-hyuk has teased a ‘dark and intense’ finale, with Gi-hun on his way to face his toughest choices yet taking on every possible challenge. After Season 2’s crushing defeat, expect him to navigate despair and moral dilemmas as he confronts the game’s sinister forces. The stakes are higher with new games, including a chilling twist featuring Young-hee and her “boyfriend” Cheol-su, designed to push players to their limits.
