House Of Dragons to make a comeback with season 3 on this date, to feature...

House of the Dragon Season 3 is all set to set our screens ablaze with another season of more epic battles, jaw-dropping betrayals, and that signature Targaryen chaos we can’t get enough of. After Season 2 left us hanging on the edge of our seats, the anticipation for the next chapter in HBO’s Game of Thrones prequel is through the roof.

When Can We Expect Season 3 to Soar Onto Our Screens?
If you’re hoping to return to House Of The Dragon ASAP, you’ll need a bit of patience as HBO hasn’t dropped an official release date yet, but all signs point to a mid-to-late 2026 premiere. Why the long wait then? Well, this show is a beast to produce—with massive sets, dragon-sized visual effects, and intricate battle sequences that take months to perfect. The show's filming kicked off in March 2025 at Warner Bros. Studios Leavesden in Hertfordshire, UK, and is expected to wrap by October 2025, with post-production likely stretching into the following year. The gap between Seasons 1 and 2 was about two years (August 2022 to June 2024), and Season 3 seems to be following a similar timeline.
Showrunner Ryan Condal confirmed production is in full swing, with Emma D’Arcy sharing a cheeky “Action!” to mark the start of filming. Posts on X also buzzed with excitement hinting that filming will run through October for an eight-episode season aiming for that 2026 debut.

Plot Hints: The Dance of the Dragons Goes Full Throttle!
While the Season 2 ended on a massive cliffhanger, setting the stage for an all-out war, and Season 3 is ready to deliver the “total war” we’ve been craving. Based on George R.R. Martin’s Fire & Blood, the show will dive deeper into the Dance of the Dragons, the Targaryen civil war between Team Black (Rhaenyra’s squad) and Team Green (Aegon’s crew). Ryan Condal has teased that Season 3 will be the most ambitious yet, adapting four major events from the book, including the highly anticipated Battle of the Gullet.

Condal has also hinted at a unique, character-driven episode that breaks from the show’s usual format, diving deep into the personal struggles of our faves. And let’s not forget the fan chatter about a certain missing Targaryen—Daeron Targaryen, Alicent’s youngest son, is finally stepping into the spotlight with his dragon, Tessarion.

Who’s Back and Who’s New in the Cast?
The House of the Dragon cast is a powerhouse, and Season 3 is bringing back all the heavy hitters with Emma D’Arcy as Rhaenyra Targaryen, Olivia Cooke as Alicent Hightower, Matt Smith as the rogue Daemon Targaryen, and Tom Glynn-Carney as the battered but still scheming Aegon II. Other returning stars include Ewan Mitchell (Aemond), Phia Saban (Helaena), Rhys Ifans (Otto Hightower), Steve Toussaint (Corlys Velaryon), Fabien Frankel (Ser Criston Cole), Matthew Needham (Larys Strong), Sonoya Mizuno (Mysaria), Harry Collett (Jacaerys), Bethany Antonia (Baela), Phoebe Campbell (Rhaena), and new dragonriders Kieran Bew (Hugh Hammer), Tom Bennett (Ulf the White), Clinton Liberty (Addam of Hull), and Abubakar Salim (Alyn of Hull). Fingers crossed we get more of Simon Russell Beale (Ser Simon Strong) and Gayle Rankin (Alys Rivers) at Harrenhal, too.
