RAMESH SIPPI

Biography : Ramesh Sippy is an Indian film director, producer, and actor. He is best known for directing the 1975 blockbuster film Sholay, which is considered one of the greatest Indian films ever made. Sippy was born in Karachi, Pakistan, in 1947. He moved to Mumbai with his family after the Partition of India. He began his career in the film industry as an assistant director, working on films such as Johar-Mehmood in Goa (1968) and Mere Sanam (1969). Sippy made his directorial debut with the film Andaaz (1971), which starred Rajesh Khanna, Hema Malini, and Shammi Kapoor. The film was a success, and Sippy followed it up with the even more successful film Seeta Aur Geeta (1972), which starred Hema Malini in a double role. In 1975, Sippy directed Sholay, which became a cultural phenomenon and one of the highest-grossing films of all time in India. Sippy's other films include Shaan (1980), Shakti (1982), and Saagar (1985). He has also produced several films, including Kuch Naa Kaho (1994) and Bluffmaster! (2005). Sippy was awarded the Padma Shri, India's fourth-highest civilian award, in 2013. Sippy is married to actress Kiran Juneja. They have three children: Rohan, Sheena, and Sonya. Rohan is also a film director.
