DEEPANKAR DEY

Biography : Dipankar Dey is an Indian actor who has worked in Bengali cinema for over four decades. He is known for his versatility, having played a wide range of roles, from heroes to villains to character artists. He has starred in films by some of the most acclaimed directors in Bengali cinema, including Satyajit Ray, Mrinal Sen, and Rituparno Ghosh. Dey was born in Jamshedpur, Bihar, in 1944. He studied economics and philosophy at Presidency University in Kolkata, and then went on to work as a journalist for a few years. He made his film debut in 1971 with the Bengali film "Seemabaddha". He went on to star in many other acclaimed films, including "Jana Aranya" (1976), "Ganashatru" (1990), "Shakha Proshakha" (1990), and "Agantuk" (1991). Dey has also acted in a number of commercial films, including "Subarna Golak" (1981), "Amar Kantak" (1986), and "Titli" (2002). He has won numerous awards for his work, including the National Film Award for Best Supporting Actor for his performance in "Shakha Proshakha". Dey is still active in the film industry, and he continues to give critically acclaimed performances. He is a respected actor who has made a significant contribution to Bengali cinema.
