Gadar 2 star Sunny Deol, Kangana Ranaut and other top celebs from Bollywood who did not shy away from revealing the dark and murky side of the Hindi film industry
Sunny Deol opened up on his lean patch while promoting Gadar 2. He said he told people not to use the word Paaji casually as it means elder brother. He said it means nothing if people do not have any respect. He revealed no producer wanted to join hands with them to launch Bobby Deol. Finally, they had to produce a film themselves for Bobby Deol with Rajkumar Santoshi being the maker.
Gadar 2 maker Anil Sharma recently said that the Rs 450 crores collected by the film was purely organic. He said that the collections of Gadar 2 are real and not fake. Anil Sharma said he was happy for films like Pathaan, but continued to say that Gadar 2 made money organically. Many have assumed that he wanted to say that Bollywood makers show fake collections and share inflated numbers to create false perception around a film.
Kamaal R Khan has made many distasteful comments on celebrities. He once called Salman Khan Films as dacoits and said that Being Human are involved in money laundering, fraud and manipulation. He also spoke about how producers pay critics to give negative opinions on rival producers' movies releasing on the same day. Ajay Devgn had slammed him for allegedly taking Rs 25 lakh from Karan Johar for badmouthing his movie, Shivaay and highlighting Ae Dil Hai Mushkil. He also said that RRR and Brahmastra were flop films.
Vivek Agnihotri congratulated makers of The Kerala Story and said that their lives would be tough after this success. He said that some people from Bollywood would launch orchestrated campaigns on them. He said that they have a PR machinery in place for them. Vivek Agnihotri also blamed Karan Johar and Shah Rukh Khan for spoiling the fabric of Bollywood. He said that their star system does not let art house cinema thrive. He also said that their values do not match the middle class Indian sensibilities.
Naseeruddin Shah has said that Bollywood is still referring stories from the Mahabharata or Shakespeare and has no novelty. He said the industry is not bothered about filmmaking as an art. He also once spoke about how technicians barely make any money even if a movie is a blockbuster. Naseeruddin Shah said exhibitors take all the money and rued that they did not even get as much awards as they deserved.
Paresh Rawal who is seen in Dream Girl 2 said that Bollywood lacks unity. He said that if the fraternity stood together no fringe group would have dared to stall releases or indulge in vandalism. He said South Indian industry is way better in this aspect.
After the death of Sushant Singh Rajput, Kangana Ranaut went on to make some explosive revelations on the drug mafia. She said that there was a deep nexus between cops, politicians and top actors. She said drugs flowed like water in Bollywood parties, and people indulged in all sorts of debauchery. Kangana Ranaut said she had seen a top actor do drugs in parties where his wife was present. She also said an actor who was her mentor would be physically abusive with her. She said he would sedate her so that she could not visit the cops.
Nawazuddin Siddiqui has said that he is still unpaid for some films which he did as a junior artiste. He said that meals are segregated for top stars, supporting actors and junior artistes. He also revealed he was once dragged by the collar out of a film set as he demanded to eat in the same space as the top stars of the movie.
Kriti Sanon ha said she had often auditioned for films and has been told that she has done well. But later, that role went to a star kid. She said that she is not aware if it was the connections that got the star kid a role. Kriti Sanon said some good films would have definitely come her way more easily if she was from a film family.
The actress has spoken about how she faced unfair treatment. Yami Gautam said designers refused to give her clothes based on her star status. She also said she was forced to go with the tide to survive in the industry.
