Dharmendra’s sons, Sunny Deol and Bobby Deol, are famous for their charm, charisma, and suave looks. But did you know that Dharmendra has a completely different perspective about his sons? In fact, he had once told Anil Sharma that both of their sons are too innocent to have affairs.
Anil Sharma, the popular Indian film director who directed Gadar, worked with Dharmendra on multiple occasions in the 1980s. A while ago, he sat with Siddharth Kannan for a candid conversation. There, he shared anecdotes from his time. He revealed that the legendary actor would often tease his sons a lot during shoots, sometimes so much so that it would make them run away.
Sunny Deol and Bobby Deol have shared the big screen with their father multiple times. Some of those films include legendary films like Apne and Yamla Pagla Deewana. Anil Sharma recalled an incident from one of those films, Apne.
He talked about how once he was sitting with Dharmendra, and in the conversation, Dharmendra had told him that his sons were too “innocent.” What he did not realize was that Sunny Deol and Bobby Deol were both sitting there as well. The “He-man” joked about his sons not “getting any heroines.”
Dharmendra then continued, talking about how multiple actresses were crazy about him. Anil Sharma quoted Dharmendra and said, Dharam ji, Sunny, Bobby, and I were all sitting together in the vanity van. Dharam ji says, 'Mere ladke bade seedhe hain.' He didn’t realize both his sons were sitting there. 'Inka yaar, kuch heroines ke sath chakkar hi nahi chalta kabhi. Inko koi badi heroine milti nahi hai kabhi dono ko. Aur mere time ko dekho, sab heroines peeche aati rehti thi. Sab padi rehhti thi peeche.'
Anil then shared that upon hearing this, Sunny and Bobby silently left the vanity van. Then, Dharmendra continued, talking about how both of his sons were very innocent. Anil continued, Dharam ji laughed and said, 'Inko samajh nahi aata. Bade seedhe hain ladke.' Phir unhoney bola, 'Main bhi bada seedha hu.' Haske bolne lage.
In the same interview, Anil Sharma also gave insights about the personalities and traits of Dharmendra. He revealed that during his time, Dharmendra was extremely charming and charismatic. According to Sharma, he had such a compelling and magnetic personality that every big actress wanted to work with him.

In the film, Dharmendra gave one of his most heartfelt performances when he played Baldev Choudhary, a once-celebrated boxer who had unfulfilled dreams and was haunted by his public humiliation.
